Update 2

Revision 1.0

By Sebastian, June 3, 2025.

With the writing and publishing of A Brief Apology for the Collective Unconscious, I saw that it was necessary to add some sort of implementation of footnotes to the site.(such as this). They can be viewed by hovering over them with your cursor on a computer, or by clicking them on mobile. I have always despised endnotes as providing a serious break in continuity of thought. Classical footnotes also prove a problem here, though to a much lesser extent. This solution of an inline footnote (inline note? innote?), inspired by Wikipedia's system, is an attempt at remedy. This implementation is still a bit cruder than Wikipedia's, but I hope to amend that as time goes on.

The implementation on mobile is a bit dodgy and hacky, still. Mobile will be the death of me. Speaking of, I have fixed a couple of formatting errors which would appear on mobile. One was that titles, bylines, and articles could all end up overlapping. That should be fixed. Another was that the bylines and titles were very small. It's been remediated, but I'm not totally happy with it. I'll consider further layout optimizations for mobile. Lastly, the text on the hypertext menu was extremely small. Just about the same story as the previous. It should be much more usable on mobile now.

Last, and certainly not least, by popular demand, I've added a mailing list. I've used MailerLite as a ready solution for this.1 I intend to use this whenever I make a new post. I'll make a small email letting you know that there's a new post if you subscribe. Perhaps, come Update 3, I'll add an RSS feed, though I suspect nobody uses those anymore.

I hope you enjoy my Apology, and make sure to sign up for the mailing list! I'll see you next time.
